Whoa! Balefire!

For all of you who have been bummed trying to get copies of Balefire, some of which is out of print, I was just sent the cover art for the future 4-in-1 bind-up that will be available in December. This will be all four books in one volume, and I love the cover design. Here it is, so you’ll know what to look for:

I think it’s fah-bulous! Can’t wait till December!

I’m new to your writing. Just finished Balfire and have Sweep ready to go next. AMAZING I loved loved loved Balfire, It was so intriuging and complex. First book that has held my attention and kept me guessing in awhile :) (and I read about a book a day so that is a very good thing!) It left my imagination running wild, are you considering writing more on their stories?? That would be absolutly wonderful of you!

I just finished the Balefire series, and I am dying for more!!! I flew through the almost 1000 pages in just a few days, and ate it all up! I love reading books, as it’s been a passion of mine for 30 years, but I’m definately going to re-read Balefire! I love Luc, and grew to love Richard! These guys kept me up late, and woke me up early, eager to read more. Love it!!!

  3. Isn't it lovely? says:

Please write more, I am dying to find out who was behind the *SPOILER* mystery attacks!

  4. Kayla says:

This series was amazing. It took me no time to read all the books. Are you going to write more?

  8. Nadine says:

    Omg I love this series!!!

  9. rich says:

I think the majick going very big and out of control was Thais, she inherit it from Petra’s first daughter, she’s the dark twin, and they are going to find out perty quick!!!!Thais got all of Melita’s power plus some and Melita knows it, she did say Thais was just like her, and she didn.t die while under the water and Clio did. Would love to see Thais take them all out but Petra and clio!!!!

I’ve not even finished the book of Balefire (the one with merged volumes) But I’ve been going through it like wildfire. I can’t believe I am nearly done. Omg please write more! The characters, the setting, everything is so awesome! I will miss everything about it way too much :/ Alot of others seem they want more. Here here! *chant chant* more more! lol

  11. Jane says:

I bought your 4-in-1 Balefire. I love these books. I love, love, love Richard and Clio. They added so much fire to the books and laugh out loud humor. Thank you so much for such a fun read. Love it.

  12. nat says:

OK i know I’ve commented on this earlier on the page but will she ever make a fifth book , there are still some questions unanswered like what happened to Thais and lucs relationship does it grow or are they done for good or like what happened to malita is she gone for good or will she make an epic return i mean don’t get me wrong im really not trying to be bitchy about it and i love this series and hope to see another book so hopefully information will come out about it soon ^-^

  13. WANT MORE says:

PLEASE WRITE MORE OF THIS SERIES. =(

  14. more books? says:

Will there be more books in this series? I really fell in love with these books, the characters and new orleans setting is well magic! This is series I could easily loyally follow! I keep trying to find something similar but they seem pale in comparison. I join the others in please for more Clio and Thais, the others and New Orleans! =D

  15. Grace says:

I liked Balefire and own the book but I have a few questions that I’d really like answered, especially if there’s not going to be another book.
    1. Does Clio still have feelings for Luc?
    2. What kind of a relationship will Luc and Clio have now?
    3. Why does Luc, on a couple different occasions appear to have feelings for Clio even though he says he wants Thais? (for example, he told Richard that Clio loved him and he loved her when Clio said she and Richard were sleeping together)
    4. Will the Treize all start suddenly aging now since the twins are the 13th generation? How far will they age if so?
    5. Who was behind the attacks against the twins? (Apart from Richard)
    6. What was Melita’s significance, she barely did anything…?
    7. Was Thais father really killed on purpose, like she envisioned?

I’d really like these questions answered, thanks!

Why are books 1 and 3 available on kindle but not book 2…very frustrating

  17. Miiko says:

Will there be any more of these in the future? I loved the characters & the southern gothic setting of new orleans. I tried to get into sweep but I just can’t. Balefire is so creative and a little unconventional compared to other series of this genre–the characters are multi dimensional and flawed, even the love interest guys are not perfect or like they were written just to make teen girls gush over them. You are a great writer! Thank you for bringing us this series, even if sadly, it will forever remain only these 4 books.

  18. Person says:

Loved the books, but there are a lot of loose ends to tie up. Does this mean there will be a book 5?

  19. Karatedoc says:

Will these books be on Nook or Kindle? I am trying to be as green as possible!

  20. MaryAnn says:

Just finished the four books……waiting for more PLEASE

  21. Katie T says:

Balefire was the best series I have ever read, and I read a lot of books! Please write a fifth book! I am dying for it!

  22. Antonia says:

Cate, I loved Sweep, read it years ago in H.S. and bought two sets (1 set soft cover, 1 set Ebook on Kindle) so I can keep re-reading them, and when I saw BALEFIRE in B&N I had to have it. Just spent two days reading all 4 books (the 4-in-1 copy) and I am so very eager for more on Clio and Thais… there is still so much more to discover! the mystery attacks, the way things do/or don’t work out for Luc… (and I love love loved Richard from the start!) Please tell us there is more on the way!! ;)

  23. Jenell says:

I have just read Balefire. I couldnt put it down I read it all in one day. I loved it PLEASE PLEASE tell me there is more to this series. I can’t wait to read more about these girls

  24. Crystal says:

I just finished Balefire and fell in love!!!! I can’t wait to see if there’s more to the series! I couldn’t put it down and when I did it was all I could think about!!! Definitely one of my favorite book series!!! They should make a movie out of this book series too!!!! I would be first in line to see it!!!!!!!

  25. Sammie says:

** SPOLIERS ** I just finished the Balefire series and I enjoyed reading it. I loved the story and all four books. But I did feel like there was a lot left to imagination, which is a good thing, but there are some questions that I would like to know!! What happens to Melita? Does Daedalus end up dying? Why didn’t Melita bring Manon back to life? IS the Trieze still immortal or are they are aging? Will they eventually die? Did Clio and Thais become immortal? What happened in Luc and Thais’ relationship? Richard and Clio? I am still a little confused about the 13th generation thing, why did they need twins and why were they so important? Others and myself seemed to really enjoy these books and the story. A 5th book would be great to have so we can learn more about the Trieze and see what happens!! I am going to start reading Sweep soon. Thanks for amazing books!!

  26. Sammie says:

** More Spoliers ** Oh and to answer people asking about the mysterious attacks. At first it was Richard because he didn’t want another rite happening but once he met the twins, he stopped the attacks. The person that started the attacks again was Manon because she started aging and since she was getting older she didn’t want to die and wanted to prevent a rite. So then she tried to kill Clio and/or Thais. Another question is: Was Thais’ dad really murdered? Thanks!!

  27. Ember says:

*chant* more more more more more!!! please.

  28. Sarah says:

I really enjoyed Balefire, it’s my favorite series of all-time, even with the now published craze Twilight, Vampire Academy, etc. All the popular fantasy genres for the young people – none of those books can top this series. I was really hoping you’d write more but it seems the four books is it for the series. I’m not as crazy about Sweep as I am about Balefire – I love your writing! Thank you for the hard work and creative thoughts you put into writing these books.

  29. Draven says:

I’ve really enjoyed your books so far, I just got done with the Balefire books, read them in two days because I couldn’t put them down. Sweep was great, as is Immortal Beloved, your writings are by far my favorites thus far. I hope to see more of your writings. Thank you for all of the hard work and creativity that you put into writing these books.

  30. Colleen says:

  31. Charlie says:

    hi,
when balefire will be available in french?

  32. Yzabel says:

ohm. This book is definitely a page turner! I wasn’t able to put down this book while I was eating. To the point that my mom is being pissed at me just because I don’t want to put it down.

Thias and Luc, friends? oh. no…. book 5 please? :D

  33. Sandy says:

Will there be a fifth book?

Finished the 4-in-1 Balefire book in two days. I just finished Westerfield’s last book and found the New Orleans thing a bit less captivating at first. While the initial half of the book was slow to get through due to the necessary detailed setting descriptions, the quality of writing was recognizable so I read on. The setting is quite special and somewhat melancholic though I’d say your strongsuit was the characters. Kind of sad that I expected Melita to be the woman teaching Thais. Intriguing though. Overall a great read.

  34. Esther says:
