I don’t know much more than you do, at this point–Alloy, which owns half of Sweep, made the deal. But I really love the screenwriter they’ve hired for the adaptation–he adapted one of my favorite movies, Chocolat, and has done several other terrific movies, so I feel like I’m in good hands.
But I don’t know anything about the schedule or timeline or casting–I won’t be involved in any of that. The author usually isn’t, unless they’re much bigger and more powerful than I am!

What’s really perplexed me is all the negative comments on some of the film sites, with people hating on Sweep without having read any of them, and saying it’s just like Harry Potter and Twilight. It’s so weird! Why don’t they read one of them first? Then they can hate on it if they want. It’s the dissing without knowing what they’re talking about that’s freaking me out.
But anyway: Sweep movie, possibly. Many things can still not work out. But my fingers are crossed. Thanks so much for all your support!

I have mixed feelings about a movie…i would absolutely love the movie but only if it held true to the books. I absolutely love these books and im sad now that i have finished the series. Maybe there will be some on the future of Moira? I am definitely hoping so…lol
im not sure if i am liking the idea of a movie.. it would take way to long to make and it would be off they wouldnt be able to get it close because there is so many of them. i think they would shave a show for them instead.then people dont have to wait so long to see them, they will want to watch it all the time and it would keep it going for them. i have all the charmed books and im so glad that there never made into a movie. that would have killed them. the show kept them going and alive.

I have always said they should be made in to movies, I am now 22 and I collected them through the time I was in school and fell in love with the books and characters, I managed to give away so many books but never was able to give away these ones! Even when lent out and never had them bk I replaced them! Can’t wait to see them on the big screen!!!
I am an Irish-American mom who is a total fan! Love the Sweep series, Cate. Amazing character development and gorgeous scenery, with such depth. I couldn’t imagine how many different levels and subplots there would be. I am breezing through these books like they were food! Can’t wait to read some of your other series books.

I CAN’T WAIT for a movie I am only like three blockers away from finishing the series this is the best series I have read yet and there are 15 books that means lots of people like them if the author wrote so many and the better keep the movie exactly like the book and if they cut out. Imporant parts I will be pissedit makes me sad that I am almost done with the series so I read it really slow and savor every. Moment and I hope they continue someone said something about a girl name moira and she is like Morgan’s daughter so maybe they will start something with her fingers crossed
I’ve been in love with this series from the first moment I started reading it. It’s been the only book series I’ve ever gotten into and read multiple times. I’d love to see it made into a movie, but there are so many books and tons of amazing moments, that a tv series would make more sense. That’s just my thinking
I’d hate for all this awsomeness to be crammed into a short amount of time. Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait and see. Whatever happens, thank you Cate for creating such an amazing world to escape into!

I soooo love this book, my opinion, please just go for the TV series. I agree with Alic, and sometimes in movies they make it shorter. I will be disappointed if they won’t show my favorite scenes in the book.

If there is a movie, I do hope it is as true to the books as possible. Yes, your books are WAY better than a certain “other” series… I have thoroughly loved the Sweep series, as well as Balefire. They definitely do give one who is of this path much to reflect and ponder on!

I’m only on the 8th book (If I’m not mistaken) and I looooooove the series. I finished two of the omnibus versions (couldn’t find the original publications
But I truthfully think that it should be a TV Series. That way they can fit everything in, will most likely keep every detail the same, and can string it on as long as they want. :3 Better than trying to make 15 movies, which I hear is MUCH more costly.
Either way, though, can’t wait to see a live version of Sweep!

im 24 now still obsessed just like when i was 15, mum and i are re reading them again for like the 4th time. I reckon a show( like the secret circle) would be much better, gives it more time and is less rushed. Twilight missed alot out cos of its time limit and im so happy they did two parts for HP and Twighligh but ive been saying to my mum for years WICCA/SWEEP SHOULD BE A TV SHOW.
I don’t think makeing a movie would be the best thing ever because it would change the images I have created for the book but still I hope for the best

So weird that I was pondering the possibility of a sweep movie for the billionth time last night and come here to see this. I’ve always thought they should make a movie or even better a TV show to really do sweep justice. I’m 20 and like many others fell in love with Sweep a long time ago it seems in middle school. I’ve read them over and over and keep coming back. I’ve got to get rid of a lot of my books but Sweep will not be going anywhere. Thanks Cate
okay so im on the last book. I am almost done with it. I have been sooo curious about whether or not there will be a movie. I am only 13 and i LOVE these books. i got so upset when i discovered hunter had drowned on the ferry. Now i am curious on whether or not he is alive or not. i am not sure but im almost done with the book so i am going to find out. I would be soooooo happy if a movie was made. Hi cate I don’t know if you remember me, I highly doubt it. I e-mailed you quite a few years ago about loving the series and wanting to make it into a film myself once I had gotten older. Well next year once I graduate I will have my associate degree in film and will be inturning to become a line producer. I am still very much interested in work with this becoming a film even though they already made a deal.
Im not sure how often you read these comments but if there is any way you could e-mail me about a person I could contact to find out more that would he amazing. I know the series backwards and forwards even started writing my own script for it, so I also could be very handy if I was actualy allowed to come work with them. I remember you telling me about how you where worried about them changing the story to much.
