I thought it might be nice to have a thread about how we got into some of the books and our reading habits with them, be it Wicca/Sweep or Balefire :)

Heres mine about the Wicca books:

I first discovered the Wicca series (being from the UK) when i was at school. To kill time before the bus home from town some of my friends and i used to go to the local library (mainly to keep warm to be honest!) and i came across The Coven.
Every time we went to the library i searched for the first book but never found it ..so began reading the second one a little more each time, feeling guilty for missing out the first one.
I ended up reading most of the second book and having to go back on myself when i finally got the first book :)

During breaks from school i often read a book a day from the Wicca series so made myself deliberately slow down :)
I’m currently re-reading the entire series and am making sure i don’t go through them too fast!

I’m also from the Uk, I found the 12th one in my school library and didn’t realise that it was part of a series, so i read it, and when I finished it, it flet like i was missing out on something, so investigated to find out that it was the 12th of theis series called ‘sweep’. The library didn’t have any of the others, so i put them on my christmas list and my nan got the first 6 for me for christmas, i was confused about cal, but it all made sanse in the end. I ordered the next2 from amazon and am currntly waiting for seeker to arrive. So hat’s my journey of discovery.

A very big fan of Sweep series, intrigued by Wicca

Being from the US, I discovered it as Sweep. I came across it on the Internet– I was into the Circle of Three series (a more realistic series about three girls studying Wicca) that was coming out around the same time, and there was a lot of fandom crossover. So one day, in between Co3 releases, I decided to pick up the Book of Shadows and loved it. And since it ran longer than Co3, it quickly became my primary love at the time. I still love it and am eagerly awaiting the rest of the bind-ups (since most of my original copies are lost to the ages /o\)

I first found them also in my local library (from the UK), I can’t remember whether I read the first to start with as it was so long ago now. I do remember however after starting the books I had to order the rest of the books from other librarys and it usualy took a few weeks before it arrived, so that was quite annoying. Especially after finish one book and having too wait to find out what happened next. Thats why now I’m glad I’ve been able to afford the whole series so I don’t have to do any more waiting. I just finished re-reading them again, a little too fast I think and yes there was a few tears on the last book. I’ve now ordered the first two books of Balefire, hope they arrive soon.

I first found out about the Wicca series (I live in Europe, so my version is ‘Wicca’, not ‘Sweep’) when friends of mine got into Wicca when we were around 12-13 years old. At that time, Wicca was a bit of a fad (you know how at that age everyone wants to act special =P). They read the Wicca books, and slowly slowly I got into them too. Eventually, they abandoned them half-way through, and as a result, I did too. Peer pressure and all that. Years later, I came across them once again, and I slowly got back into them, and I realised just how truly amazing they were. Brilliant writing technique, awesome amounts of knowledge on Wicca, which I began respecting more for the religion it is, brilliant everything! I started buying all of the rest, because the first few had been given to me by friends as a birthday present. Then I found out that two of the books (Eclipse and Night’s Child, I believe) had gone out of print all throughout Malta, where I live, and I was having trouble finding it online, until I managed to purchase them from a second-hand site in very good condition. I am so happy to have the entire series now, and I’m currently looking for the second book in the Balefire series, which seems to be out of print. Fingers crossed! :D

Im from the US…..I had gone to a Barnes & Noble store to find some books for another series I was reading and was looking for some other books too read…I came across books 3 and 4 but they had no others at that store. Well I REALLY hate reading books out of order so they sat on my book shelf for a while…to be honest I kinda forgot about them until I went to Wal-Mart looking to see if they had any new books and came across the bind-up of 1-3..it was bought!! Now I cant put the series down unfortunately I am borrowing the books 5-15 from the library and I have to wait because they get them from other libraries in the county but I cant complain I am able to read them!!!! I just finished reading The Calling and couldnt put it down (unless my kids needed something or had to do some work around the house)!! My family makes fun of me because I even take the books in the store with me and read them as I walk around and do what ever shopping I need lol

I live in the Netherlands and I found out about ‘Wicca’ (the way they call Sweep here) when I was 13 Years old. I was interested in magick since I was very young and always searching for new books in this genre. So, one time I went to te library and just found the first book in Dutch. I read and had to read the second book immediately. Since then I read all the books twice in Dutch and once in English. I like them better in English so now I’m trying to find and order the English books (uk-version)and read all of them again :D
When I read the Sweep/Wicca seriefor the first time I discovered Balefire and got addicted to those books too. Now I’m waiting for Immortal Beloved.
