I was actually surprised by the poll results, which showed that Hunter was a more popular character than even Morgan. I thought that readers would relate to Morgan’s struggles and insecurities, but it turns out that most people were too busy lusting after Hunter to worry about Morgan’s measly fight against evil!

I’ve said before that every character in my work has a little part of me in them, and that I can relate to all of them, understand all of them, including the evil ones. So I saw Morgan’s attraction to Cal, and understood it. And I totally got why she would fall for Hunter, and vice versa. But I’d like to hear from you guys: what is it about Hunter that you find so appealing? Is it his physical description, or his resolve, or his devotion to Morgan? For myself, it’s all of the above, but *primarily,* the thing I find most attractive about Hunter is that he finds Morgan’s power incredibly attractive. He’s not threatened by the fact that she’s stronger than him, magickally–he’s attracted to that. And he supports her unconditionally.

So, what about it? What do you find most appealing about the English Muffin?

One thing I found most appealing about Hunter was his strength of character. At such a young age, he knew who he was and was sure of his values. He had goals, determination. I love Morgan to death, and while it is easier to relate with her and her growth over the series, she was at times a bit malleable, which gave Hunter the slight edge for me.

Have been an avid fan of the works of Cate Tiernan from the day the first Sweep book was published, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Yes, Hunter is my favorite character. But the reason is a bit different than the others. When I read…it’s like my own fantasy world. I AM the character whose POV I am reading from. I guess I like Hunter so much because you can tell that he loves Morgan. He has both his strong and his weak sides. And for all the other reasons that others have already posted. Cate, you are an amazing writer-you show your characters so well. I liked every one of the characters in the books, and I felt I understood each and every one of them (even when some of them turned out to be evil).

The thing I loved most about Hunter was how, when he needed to be strong for Morgan he was, but at other times he let her see his vulnerability when it came to his family. He didn’t try to be macho and blow it off as something that didn’t bother him.

He would’ve been a great father to Moira had they known each other while she was growing up. Too bad we’ll never see how they got to know each other once he was rescued..*hint hint*

for me it was pretty much all of it also, exspecialy with the accent. i have a thing for scotish/irish/english accents lol.
plus how devoted he was to morgan, they had the kinda relationship i would die for.
i actualy related to morgan more then any others, its funny because alot of the characters i could relate to someone in my life. my half sisters name is mary kathleen but we call her katie and she was dating a guy named matt adams which is quite close to matt adler. then her name being morgan and mine meranda lol.
stuff like that got me wraped up in the book along with the story line.

Names Meranda i’ve been turning heads since june 15th 1993. Im a Junior at La Porte High School third year dance, love it. I have lots of drama in my life but hey who doesent. Love making new friends, so exspect me to be myself when you first meet me. I dont take shit from people. I hate people who talk shit behind your back but wont back it up. Dont get on my bad side ;] Ima total sucker for cute cheezy pick up lines. Im’a bit of a dits, if your late or slow getting somewere im probably the reason since im always forgetting something. Performing, filming,&& directing<3 are my plans after collage

When I found this website I felt such a joy and I could not believe there is a forum either. I absolutly adore the books but being from the UK I have the ‘wicca’ series, they are not called ‘sweep’. I have 5 more to collect before I have all of them and I can not stop reading them. I can’t find any books that I love as much as these. I’m such a huge fan!

My favourite characters would have to be Morgan and Hunter. At first when I read and discovered Cal’s character I wasn’t so sure but I changed my mind when I got to the part where he locked Morgan in the outside building where he lived and set fire to it. I did not like his character and I think thats why when Hunter came into the series I grew strongly towards him. He is such a loving character. I could not put these books down when I started the first book.

Same with me :D
I think the fact Hunter is a british good guy made me like him straight away, even when we thought he was the bad guy, right at the start. We always seem to be cast as the baddies, because of our accent, so it was refreshing to have him eventually end up good.

i was surprised at how much I liked him though, after that. Physically, I’d have always said I go for dark hair, dark eyes. Hunter is of course the opposite!! But the descriptions of him physically make him seem very gorgeous. Personality wise, I suppose Hunter seemed a lot more realistic than Cal. I dont mean that in a ‘Cal isnt a realistic character’ kind of way, but more in a..the love/feelings/emotions are more real to the situation, whereas re-reading, and looking back on Cal and how he acted around Morgan…well, in a way you could see it was an act, and then more insane. There was no real work in their relationship, whereas with Hunter and morgan, there was more of a fight, more arguments, more real emotion. Morgan could be herself, and was less repressed around Hunter.

I totaly agree with what you posted and I think that’s another reason why I liked Hunter more than any other because he is British. Other characters I adored also was Mary K (Morgan’s sister – not through blood of course) and Sky (Hunters cousin).

First, I want to say bravo on a great series. I just couldn’t put them down. It took me a total of maybe 2 weeks to read all 15 books in the series (14 + Night’s Child).

Hunter was the character that I felt the most need to read more and more about. I love his mysteriousness and seriousness, but also, that he is corky and caring.

I kept thinking to myself as I was coming to the end of the series, “I wish this would be made into movies.” With all the hype of other “supernatural” books made into movies, I felt this series was very well thought out and would be a strong plot for multiple movies. Plus, I would love to see these characters really come alive straight from the books.

Once again, bravo on a wonderful series and Hunter was my favorite.

I just wanted to quote on what you said. I 100% agree that these series of books would be amazing if made into a series of Movies. I think they would be amazing, if the characters are picked right and the movies stick to the whole plot of the books. If they were to be made into a movie I would like to say now they should not change anything like they do in many movies out there because this just spoils it. I studied media at College and I’d love to get involved in the making of the movies, I believe this would be my dream to be able to make movies from my favourite books of all time. *fingers crossed*
